North American Artery
North American Artery (NAA) is a professional society dedicated to the encouragement, support, and understanding of vascular structure and function and its application to clinical medicine, research, and pharmaceutical and medical device development.
NAA was formed in 2010 around the vision of providing a forum for investigators, industry partners, and clinicians to present research findings and to participate in education in the field of arterial function. The mission of NAA is to promote investigations that pursue the relationship between arterial stiffness and outcomes such as death, heart disease, stroke, dementia, and chronic kidney disease progression, in addition to modulation of arterial stiffness through exercise, drugs, and nutraceuticals. Our further goal is to raise awareness of the importance of arterial and aortic stiffness as it relates to organ function and cardiovascular risk.
The members of NAA are researchers and clinicians, primarily cardiologists and nephrologists, focused on understanding arterial dysfunction as a root cause of cardiovascular and metabolic disease.
About The Annual Meeting
NAA sponsors an annual conference with a focus on advances in our understanding of mechanisms involved in arterial dysfunction, its diagnosis, and the inter-relationships among vascular function, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney disease. NAA conferences feature current investigations presented by leading investigators, along with debates in controversial areas, device technology updates, oral and poster abstracts, and NAA-sponsored young investigator awards.
NAA continues to pursue its mission through partnerships with related organizations such as Pulse of Asia, the American Heart Association, and ARTERY, which publishes abstracts presented at NAA Annual Meetings in its journal, Artery Research.
The 2019 Annual Meeting is co-sponsored by The University of Iowa (UIowa) and will be hosted on its campus. New this year are an increased number of oral abstract presentations and practical hands-on demonstrations provided by our sponsors.
